Steve Nordmark, Founder and Consultant
My passion is finding ways to intelligently and intentionally leverage technology to increase the effectiveness of teachers and maximize the personalization for learners. I have dedicated my career to advancing the conceptual development and implementation of high-value technology solutions for K-12. With more than 25 years of experience in research and development of custom software solutions, I have spent over 20 of those years focused on enhancing the opportunities of teachers and learners.
It is my hope that my passion for serving learners and my background in technology, product development, strategic planning, and business development will enable me to create systemic, positive change in learning opportunities for all children. Through my consulting background and educational technology R&D experiences, I have focused on bringing insight to competency-based and universally designed learning communities. My Learning Community Insight consulting work specializes in Competency-based Learning (i.e., Micro-credentialing and badging for teachers and students) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
I serve as the Development Officer and EdTech Industry Committee Chair for the UDL-Implementation and Research Network (UDL-IRN), advocating for UDL as a foundational framework within learning communities. At a 2014 Technology-Enabled Personalized Learning Summit, I served as the Chair of the Content/Curriculum strand, consistently advocating for better industry frameworks for learner profiles, learning content and learning progressions, enabling accommodation for learner differences.
My goal is to create dialog, collaboration and ideas around innovative uses of technology to help every child – no matter where the child is – reach his fullest potential because he has access to learning communities and tools that will help him learn.
